Mac setup
Vietnamese keyboard on Mac
macOS includes Vietnamese Telex. Add it in System Settings, switch input sources, then practice real phrases so Vietnamese accents become muscle memory.
Setup steps
Open Apple menu → System Settings → Keyboard.
Under Text Input, click Edit next to Input Sources, press +, choose Vietnamese, then choose Telex.
Use Control Space or the input menu in the menu bar to switch between English and Vietnamese Telex.
Quick test
Try typing Thuwra baf, baf cos khoer khoong aj? Your Telex input method should compose Thưa bà, bà có khoẻ không ạ?
If it feels slow, start the free PengoType Telex lesson and repeat short phrases before longer paragraphs.
FAQ
Can macOS type Vietnamese accents?
Yes. Add Vietnamese Telex in Keyboard settings, then switch input sources with Control Space or the menu bar.
Should I use Telex or VNI on Mac?
Telex is the best default for PengoType learners because it uses letters instead of number keys.
